Abstract

The Voice Map Method ecommunication between singers and composers in the context of creating new vocal music. This systematic process involves collecting information about a specific singer’s voice in a quick and efficient manner. The development is iterative with the following steps: demands of the artistic process, theory, development of the Voice Map Method. The method in the composition processes of three music theatre works.

Miika Hyytiäinen, Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki

Miika Hyytiäinen is composer, researcher, and pedagogue specialised in experimental music theatre and vocal music. He has studied composition, musicology, pedagogy, and mathematics at the Universität der Künste Berlin, the Sibelius Academy, and the University of Helsinki.
