On a voyage of discovery into the soul of the hymn

Abstract

In her lectio praecursoria Sirkku Rintamäki introduces the main perspectives of her doctoral research. Her study approached the subject of the creative hymn through a process of artistic research. The artistic components were Hymn meets Child, Wild Hymns, Hymns and Early Music, Hymnplay and Contemporary Hymn. Rintamäki's thesis is called From Wild Hymns to Hymnplay: From Hymn Creation to the Creative Hymn. Her new concepts are wildhymn, hymnplay and hymnspace.
