Abstract

Timo Kaitaro’s Language, Culture and Cognition from Descartes to Lewes (Leiden: Brill, 2022) is an ambitious and detailed treatise on the history of the philosophy of language and mind. The book sheds new light on the history of music as well as on the conventional picture of the history of the philosophy of art.

Matti Huttunen, Sibelius Academy of Uniarts Helsinki

 PhD Matti Huttunen is Professor Emeritus of musical performance and research at the Sibelius Academy, the University of the Arts Helsinki. His main areas of interest are intellectual history, the history of musical performance, and the philosophy of music.
